Hello, As we enter the festive season, please take care of both yourselves and others. Whether you are staying at home or away for Christmas and the new year, safeguard your homes from people who may wish to take advantage and commit burglary. Double-check that all your doors and windows are locked.Make your home look occupied by using timer lights and cancelling any deliveries that might otherwise be left on your doorstep or in your letterbox.Ask trusted friends and neighbours to pay casual attention to your address.Consider investing in cameras and burglar alarms, either real or fake. This is the season to spend time with family and friends and have a good time, but please remember to not drive or ride if you are impaired through drink, drugs, or fatigue. Plan getting home safely ahead of time.Call a trusted taxi service or friend to take you home. Please leave your vehicle where it is if you are unfit to drive, for example even in a pub car park that will lock at a certain time. If you are worried about where it is, consider calling a trusted, sober friend who can legally drive your vehicle to move it rather than move it yourself.Even if you consider yourself under the legal limit, you may still be unfit to drive. Consider all of these points with any alcohol or drugs in your system.Collisions can still occur on short journeys. It is not worth it to drive or ride whilst impaired, even if it is ‘only down the road’.The consequences of driving or riding drunk are severe, and are exacerbated by people or property that are affected by your actions. You may receive a criminal record, lose your licence, or receive prison time.No matter how much you think it can't happen to you, it definitely can! I hope that everyone has a fantastic holiday period, and wish the best for 2026. PC Cox |
